Lot 1. 1911 T205 Al Bridwell Broad Leaf Print Freak - Rare Offered here is a 1911 T205 card of Al Bridwell with a very scarce Broad Leaf back. It also has player Louis shown next to Bridwell's name on the back of the card. The back carries a print "Freak" error, which are rarely found in the hobby today. I have never seen another T205 print "Freak" with a Broad Leaf back in my many years of collecting. What' s very interesting about this card again is the two names mentioned on the back along with the Broad Leaf Tobacco advertisement in error form. Grading on this card is G/Vg.
Winning Bid $368.
Lot 2. 1922 W501 Ty Cobb- SGC Authentic Est. Value $2,700-$3,000.00 Offered here is a beautiful example card from the W501 series of 1922 which were considered strip cards. In the 2009 SCD Price Guide, this card books for $3,700 in Nm. The Ty Cobb offered here has been graded "Authentic" with no grade. The card in my opinion grades ExNm condition with clear photographic content. The back of this card has a blank back. Again, these cards were issued as strip cards and were meant to be cut from the actual strips which is probably why SGC didn't put a grade on this card. A high grade card of Cobb!
Winning Bid $330.
Lot 3. 1910 T211 Red Sun Cigarettes Bayless, Atlanta This lot contains a scarce T211 Red Sun Card of Bayless. His actual name should be spelled Bayliss, but as you can see his name on the card is spelled incorrectly. There are a total of 75 T211 cards to the set. To give you a brief history on the Red Sun cards, the 75 T211 subject content (or cards) were taken from series 8 of the T210 red border cards. This card has beautiful color and eye appeal with a grade of Ex/Ex+ front. There is a minor back problem as you can see from the photo, but again this card is truly a beauty.
Winning Bid $201.

Lot 6. T206 Ty Cobb -Bat on Shoulder -Sovereign Back In the T206 White Border Tobacco series, There are four Ty Cobb cards in the Set. The Cobb with the "Bat on shoulder" in my opinion is much tougher to find than the Cobb w/ "Bat off Shoulder". I have seen the "Bat off Shoulder" cards more through the years being auctioned off or at shows more frequently than the "Bat on Shoulder". This "Bat on Shoulder" Cobb offered here has been graded Fair by SGC. The card has a very clear and bright photo image of Cobb with a clean Sovereign 350 subjects back.
Winning Bid $484.

Lot 69. N172 Old Judge Elmer Smith, Cinn. (Significant card that corrected the checklist) The Old Judge card offered in this lot is an interesting one. In 1996 BcB Auction owner Brian Cataquet discovered this card and it corrected the Old Judge Checklist that was done by E.C. Wharton-Tigar. The checklist for Old Judge cards had player Mike Smith, Cinn. listed for decades, however there was never a Mike Smith who played for Cincinnati, it was Elmer Smith. This is the Old Judge card that corrected this error. A copy of the write-up done by Bob Lemke in SCD 11/29/96 issue will be sent along with this card.
The card grades Fair, light image with no back damage
